Meet AEHOBAK KOREA: Seoul Travel Tips, Kid-Friendly Places & K-Culture

About Me

Hello!

I’m a working mom living in Seoul, Korea, with my husband and our two-year-old daughter. We are based in the northern part of Seoul, working in Jongno and Mapo, which keeps us close to the city’s most famous attractions such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Insadong, Gwanghwamun, Cheonggyecheon, Seoul Station, Namdaemun, Myeongdong, Euljiro, Jongno, and Namsan. I also work in Sangam-dong, the hub of broadcasting companies that produce K-dramas, K-pop, and Korean variety shows.

As parents, we are always searching for kid-friendly places in Seoul – parks, museums, and restaurants where children can enjoy safe spaces and family-friendly menus. Through this blog, I want to share these local insights so that travelers, especially families visiting Korea for the first time, can enjoy the real Seoul.

Why “Aehobak Korea”?

Aehobak (애호박) is a light-green Korean zucchini squash, slightly paler than Western zucchini and naturally sweet in flavor. It’s an essential ingredient in Doenjang Jjigae (Korean soybean paste stew) and often used in stir-fries, pancakes, and soups. In my home, it’s always in the fridge because my two-year-old daughter absolutely loves it.

For Koreans, aehobak is familiar and comforting. But for many travelers, it may seem unfamiliar—until they taste it. Its mild sweetness is something both adults and children quickly come to love.

This blog, “Aehobak Korea,” carries the same spirit. Just like the aehobak, it may look simple at first, but it holds the essence of everyday Korean life. Here, I don’t just share predictable tourist information. Instead, I offer authentic Korean travel experiences—the way locals actually eat, shop, and explore Seoul.

My Background

I previously worked at Everland, Korea’s largest theme park, and at Lotte Hotel, Korea’s top luxury hotel. Now, I work at a major Korean broadcasting company. With this background in tourism, hospitality, and media, I provide trustworthy local recommendations that combine both professional knowledge and personal experience.
