I love it not only for the taste but also because my child enjoys it too — making it a perfect family-friendly snack. In this post, I’ll share what makes croffle special and introduce my favorite spot in Seoul to try it.
When traveling in Korea, many visitors notice croffles on café menus and wonder: Is this really a Korean dessert, or just another pastry trend? With its unique name and look, croffle sparks curiosity among tourists.
Croffle can be confusing at first. Is it French because of the croissant dough? Or Belgian because of the waffle shape? The truth is, croffle became iconic in Korea. Visitors often don’t know why it’s so popular here, or where to find a truly good one in Seoul.
Croffle was popularized by Korean cafés around 2018–2019, becoming a signature K-dessert.
Seoul’s café culture embraced it with creative toppings — ice cream, fruits, injeolmi (soybean powder), even savory cheese.
At cafés → plated with ice cream or syrup, perfect for Instagram.
As takeout → grab-and-go, still warm and crispy, great for strolling around Seoul.
It’s crispy, sweet, and light enough that even my child enjoys eating it. Sharing a croffle together has become one of our little family traditions.

Finally, here’s a picture of my 21-month-old daughter trying croffle for the very first time. At first, she looked a little unsure, but soon she fell in love with the sweet taste and finished the whole piece as her snack. It may be a bit sugary, but as a new treat you can only discover while traveling in Korea, croffle is a kid-friendly Korean street food that families will enjoy.
